Overview

Responsible for collecting, posting and managing account payments. Responsible for submitting claims and following up with first and/or third party payers.

Responsibilities

Billing:

 

  • Prepares and submits clean claims to various third party payers electronically.
  • Answers questions from employees and first/third party payers.
    Identifies and resolves patient billing errors.
  • Performs daily backups on office computer system
  • Performs various collection actions including contacting staff by email or phone, correcting and resubmitting claims to third party payers.
  • Processes payments received from first/third party payers, including the preparation and processing of deposit if applicable.
  • Conducts self in accordance with employee manual.
  • Maintains strictest confidentiality; adheres to all HIPAA guidelines/regulations.

 

 

 

Purchasing:

 

  • Prepare purchase orders, Order, and review requisitions for goods and services. 
  • Research and evaluate suppliers, based on price, quality, selection, service, support, availability, reliability, production and distribution capabilities, and the supplier's reputation and history.
  • Negotiate, renegotiate, and administer contracts with suppliers, vendors, and other representatives.
  • Maintain a working technical knowledge of the goods or services to be purchased.
  •  Arrange the payment of duty and charges. 
  •  Monitor shipments to ensure that goods come in on time, and resolve problems related to undelivered goods. 
 

 

 

Qualifications

  •  Knowledge of medical billing/collection practices.
  • Knowledge of computer programs.
  • Knowledge of business office procedures.
  • Ability to operate a computer and basic office equipment.
  • Ability to operate a multi-line telephone system.
  • Skill in answering a telephone in a pleasant and helpful manner.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees
  • Must be well organized and detail-oriented.
  • Must be 19 years old 
  • Must have a High School Diploma or GED
  • Must be able to read, write, understand and follow directions.
